DON HARRISON

Don’s most recent book - “Don Harrison’s Top Watercolour Techniques” published by HarperCollins was released September 2005 and has proved very popular. Based on his video “Waterscapes in Watecolour” the book contains a series of painting projects each of which includes photos of a scene with prelimanary pencil or colour sketches, some of the techniques used and the resulting finished painting.

Don’s lively and entertaining  watercolour demonstrations at exhibitions, seminars and workshops together with his distinctive painting style and novel colour mixing techniques ensured a huge following for many years all over the United Kingdom and abroad.

Don has written articles for the International Artist, Leisure Painter and Art & Illustrators’ magazines and also tutored watercolor workshops on behalf of St. Cuthberts Paper Mill and the Artists & Illustrators’ magazine. For many years he ran one-day workshops in Dorset, England. Don’s highly professional painting DVD’s and videos have brought the pleasure of painting in watercolour to leisure painters and would-be artists all over the world - encouraging them to reach their true potential and enjoy this wonderful pastime to the full.

His second book published in 1998 - “Watercolour Troubleshooter" made a tremendous impact throughout Germany, Holland, North America and Australia as well as in the United Kingdom - with total sales around the 80,000 mark to date. It was later released in soft back with a new cover design.

Don’s third book “The Duffers Guide to Painting Watercolour Landscapes” also proved extremely popular. It was based on the two-tape video pack with the same title - which was also successfully adapted as a six part television series for cable TV in N. America. The book was also released later in soft back with a new cover design.

Don has the distinction of being the author of the only complete book based on the use of the incredibly versatile paint called Chromacolour. This versatile medium was introduced to the UK public a few years ago and is now manufactured in Calgary, Canada. It is also marketed exclusively in the UK by Linda Wain.
